Grants and Projects

Fullerton faculty members are involved in many grants and projects to support K-18 science education in collaboration with campus departments and local school districts.

Anaheim Ducks Toys for Teaching Math and Science Project
Mathematics and Science Teachers (MAST) Project
  • Purpose: a university-wide initiative to recruit and support Mathematics and Science Teachers

  • Timeframe: Began January 2006 and is ongoing

Mathematics and Science Teacher Initiative (MSTI) Toolkit
  • Purpose: a system-wide project to provide recruitment resources

Transition to Teaching 
  • Purpose: This grant provides scholarships up to $5000 in tuition for candidates wishing to teach special education, math or science in Santa Ana Unified School District
  • Project Contact: Belinda Karge

  • Timeframe: Began 2007 and is ongoing
CSU/ISI Collaborative for Professional Development for Educators
  • Purpose: A collaborative of three CSU campuses and six Informal Science Institutes is leading to the development of a framework for a new collaboration between the CSU-system and California Informal Science Institutes.

  • Timeframe: Began 2008 and is ongoing
Help with English Language Proficiency through Science (HELP Science)
  • Purpose: Create and field test a pilot module of an online, supplemental instructional program that focuses on increasing science achievement in fifth grade students, in particular English learners, as well as sparking interest in the subject.

  • Timeframe: October 2007 - August 2008

Collaboration for Success in Science Partnership (CSSP)
  • Purpose: a partnership between Centralia High School District, California State University Fullerton, Orange County Department of Education, Chapman University, and partner districts to prepare elementary teachers in grade 2 to teach science
  • Project Contact: Megan Tommerup
  • Funding Source: California Department of Education
  • Timeframe: Began January 2006 and is ongoing
Collaboration for Excellence in Middle School Science (CEMSS)
  • Purpose: a partnership between Anaheim Union High School District, California State University Fullerton, Orange County Department of Education, Chapman University, and partner districts to support middle school science teachers.
